María Cuervo

María Cuervo is a Colombian, award-winning multidisciplinary producer, Bullerengue dancer, poet and actor. With an MA (Distinction) in Creative Producing from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, María is highly experienced in producing cultural events, theatre, musicals, and immersive and multidisciplinary performances.

In recent years, she has worked with recognised theatre venues and companies like the Young Vic, LIFT Festival, Battersea Arts Centre, Theatre Peckham, Certain Blacks, Upswing Aerial, Camden People’s Theatre, and Maya Productions.

Previous producing work includes the 5-star endurance performance The Second Woman starring Ruth Wilson (Young Vic & LIFT Festival 2023), BARRIO (Creatie Vortex Productions 2025), The Hacha Commission (Battersea Arts Centre 2025), English Kings Killing Foreigners (CPT 2024). I Love You, Now What? (The Pleasance & Ed Fringe 2023), Súper Chefs (tour 2023 & 2024), 1797: The Mariner’s Revenge (Old Royal Naval College 2022), The Apologists (Vault Festival 2019), Balthazar Treasure: The Cacao Quest (LIFT Festival 2019), among others.

María is currently the General Manager and Producer at Certain Blacks and is producing the immersive theatre and club experience BARRIO and The Hacha Commission, a binational multidisciplinary theatre piece made between Colombia and the UK.

María also hosts the Spanish-speaking poetry night Palacio de Poetas and is a member of Akolá Tambó, the first Bullerengue group in Europe, which presents a blaze of Afro-Colombian beats, chants and dance.
